Streamlining Chair Production at Kvist Industries

15 July 2025 | Q-System A/S

Back in 2016, Q-System delivered a custom transport solution to Kvist Industries to optimize production of the popular HAY chair. The goal was to improve workflow, increase efficiency, and ensure better ergonomics for employees.

The solution in brief:
- Manual assembly: Chairs are assembled manually at five rows of gravity roller conveyors.
- Automated transport: Once assembled, chairs are placed on transport plates and moved via driven conveyors toward the packing area.
- Ergonomic packing height: A declining belt conveyor lowers the chairs to floor level, ensuring an ergonomic working position for packing.
- Packing and sealing: The packed chairs continue to a strapping machine, where boxes are sealed and prepared for shipment.
- Efficient plate handling: Empty transport plates are automatically transferred to a stacking unit and returned to the assembly area for reuse.

Key benefits:
- Improved ergonomics and working environment
- Optimized flow with reduced manual handling
- Automated control and energy-saving functionality when idle

The solution has streamlined the entire process from assembly to packing, increasing capacity while improving working conditions.
