Marine Engineers Create Results Marine engineers help shape a more sustainable future and act as bridge builders between: different fields of expertise vertical levels within an organization research and application the AI and the physical world Energy Efficiency – the Forgotten Key to the Green Transition Increased energy efficiency is one of the single greatest opportunities to accelerate the green transition – and the technologies are already available on the market. So why do we keep looking toward new energy solutions instead of using the opportunities right in front of us? The global COP targets of tripling renewable energy and doubling energy efficiency by 2030 are approaching fast. And if we are to succeed, action is required – especially in industry. Electric motors account for 45% of the world’s electricity consumption, particularly in buildings. Smarter choices here can significantly reduce the CO₂ footprint. Yet many companies still focus on low purchase prices rather than total lifecycle operating costs – thereby overlooking the long-term value of energy efficiency. This is why the professionals of the future – such as marine engineers and installers – play a key role. If Denmark is to be as strong on energy efficiency as it is on renewable energy, it requires greater awareness among those making decisions about solutions for industry and construction. GreenLab – a Green and Circular Industrial Cluster GreenLab is a green and circular energy and industrial park established in 2019 to test, demonstrate, and accelerate the green transition by improving the way renewable energy is produced, converted, stored, and utilized. GreenLab shows the way in breaking down "energy silos" and integrating energy systems. This is done in practice and on a full scale through GreenLab’s SymbiosisNet™. GreenLab has created the ideal conditions for linking industrial production with a new and innovative energy infrastructure, research, and large-scale testing of new technologies. Spottet – a Regenerative Community House in Skive SPOTTET will be a vibrant environment combining sustainable architecture with communities and an innovative housing concept. At its heart, you will find a unique building that will serve as a community house, demonstrating the regenerative construction methods of the future. With a clear ambition to promote green transition and innovative solutions, SPOTTET is a place where community and new relationships become the foundation for a sustainable and inspiring urban environment in Skive. Spottet will provide housing for people temporarily staying in the Skive region in connection with work or education. Here, people from different professional backgrounds and walks of life will come together in a lively community. The link between the Innovation Center in GreenLab and the establishment of Spottet means that together we are creating a unique environment for researchers and students who are temporarily staying in the Skive region. The sense of community they experience at the Innovation Center will also be present in Spottet after working hours. Therefore, Spottet will be part of the package we offer to everyone staying in the Skive region for shorter or longer periods as part of their studies or research connected to the Innovation Center.

Organizations as digital enactment systems: The progressive replacement of humans by AI in organizational decision making

Organizations as digital enactment systems: The progressive replacement of humans by AI in organizational decision making

360° STAGE - navigated by itm8 | Hall FEnglish

01 October 2025

kl. 12:15  - 12:45

AI has the potential to transform organizational decision making. Building on a seminal organizational theory that conceptualizes organizations as interpretation systems, the progressive replacement of humans by AI is theorized. This replacement involves performing organization’s fundamental activities underpinning the processes of scanning, interpretation, and learning that encompass an organization’s interaction with its environment. As a result, organizations cease to be human interpretation systems, and instead turn into digital enactment systems where digital technologies, instead of humans, nearly autonomously create and act upon information. This transformation redefines the relationship among organizations, information, and environment, changing the role of humans, and reshaping strategy making. Thus conceived, AI transforms organizational decision making and consequently the nature of organizations and organizing in the digital age.
