Safety relay myPNOZ – Expanded function range with five new modules

The modular safety relay myPNOZ offers an expanded function range: five new modules are available in the online tool myPNOZ Creator – four additional input modules and one output module. All input modules and all input/output modules have a signal output to forward the status of the input function to a higher-level controller, for example. As a result, myPNOZ offers tailor-made safety for even more application scenarios.

The new signal outputs transmit the status of the input function – such as gate open. The status can be used to visualise the input function of the entire machine as well as for other functions. These advanced diagnostics enable faster troubleshooting, which reduces machine downtimes.

A new focus: monitoring access points

Other new application scenarios for myPNOZ now include various access points such as gates or electrosensitive protective equipment (ESPE) on machinery. The safety relay provides two new modules for this purpose: the input module PNOZ yi7 lock and yi8. The yi7 now also monitors and controls safe guard locking or interlocked guard locking on standard gate systems. It ensures that the machine stops reliably for as long as the safety gate is open. When combined with the safety locking devices PSENmlock and PSENslock from Pilz, the result is a complete safety gate monitoring system, including guard locking. The new yi8 module controls and monitors safety sensors on guards – such as the safety switch PSENmag from Pilz – as well as single-channel ESPE sensors. That includes safety light barriers, such as the PSENopt from Pilz. With the versatile yi8, users can automate safety in their production more flexibly with just one input module.

Fewer modules, but a wider range of applications

For those who want efficient implementation of larger applications with a high number of safe inputs using just one safety relay, myPNOZ now provides an additional new input module. The input module yi5 has four safe 2-channel inputs, so that users now need fewer modules for the same number of safety functions. Economic aspect: this saves costs and space in the control cabinet – As a result, applications with up to 30 safe 2-channel input functions per myPNOZ system are now possible.

Group OR for alternative Safety

If safe input functions must be used as alternatives to each other, then the new input module PNOZ yi6 fits the bill. It enables the “Group OR” safety function and therefore applications in which several safe functions must be active as alternatives to each other. As a result, various safe application scenarios can be implemented using just one module. In press applications for example, when different input functions must be handled in alternative operating modes: when the press is in “automatic mode”, safeguarding is provided by a safety gate and a light curtain. Using the “OR Press” safety function, as an alternative users can also switch to manual mode via a two-hand pushbutton.

Stay flexible with outputs

Also new is the combination of time-delayed and direct switching outputs, which the new output module PNOZ yo5 has in its sights. It has four outputs, two of which can be combined as delay-on or delay-off outputs with two direct switching outputs. This option saves modules and space in the control cabinet. The new output module hits the spot, with greater functionality at lower cost.

myPNOZ: The system

The modular safety relay myPNOZ offers a complete, digital, universal concept from selection through to order: with the intuitive online tool myPNOZ Creator, users can assemble “their” myPNOZ. It’s delivered pre-assembled, set up and tested and so is a completely individualised system, ready to install. Both new and existing modules are supplied with power via the head module and connected using BUS connectors.
