Bow screens are used for filtering solid materials from fluids. It is particularly useful for treating a large amount of liquid and effectively separating the solid fractions.

The technology works by the liquid flowing in through an inlet on the back, which can either be pumped or poured by gravity. From here, a chamber is filled up, creating an overflow down the arch. The curved surface separates the solid fractions from the liquid, which flows through small slots in a sieve element. The solid fraction builds up gradually and flows over the edge for collection in a container or screw conveyor.

Bow screens excels in:
- Effective filtering
- High capacity
- Simple construction
- Minimal maintenance
- Flexibility to change filter element to handle larger or smaller particles

For general needs, the bow screen does not require any connection to either electricity or water, apart from the inlet/outlet. The absence of moving parts makes the bow screen easy to clean. You simply remove the filter element, which is cleaned with a backflush, and clean the inside of the square container. The filter element can then either be reinstalled or replaced with a filter element with a different pore size.

The bow screen can be equipped with a vibrator or cleaning system to handle more complex needs.

The bow screen can sort items from 0.15 mm to 5.0 mm, which makes it suitable as a prefilter/guard filter for process fluid and wastewater in a wide range of industries from pharmaceutical products to meat production.
