The Danish food industry stands at a critical juncture where water scarcity meets growing sustainability demands. While the sector has achieved remarkable progress—with companies like Carlsberg and Arla demonstrating water-neutral operations—significant barriers remain.
Recent analysis of 62 Danish food companies reveals that 64% don't currently practice water reuse, yet 53% plan to invest in water-saving technologies by 2030. The industry has already reduced water consumption by 20% while increasing production, proving that efficiency gains are achievable.
Key findings show that technological innovation and regulatory compliance are the primary future goals, while economic barriers and lack of technical knowledge remain the biggest challenges. With the global water technology market growing 15% annually toward 2030, Denmark's food industry has tremendous potential to lead in sustainable water solutions, and this presentation will explore this potential.
