Corning’s network tapping tools recognized as the Data Center Physical Connectivity Innovation of the Year
Berlin, 10. December 2020 — Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced today that its EDGE™/EDGE8® Tap Modules have been recognized as the “Data Center Physical Connectivity Innovation of the Year” at the 2020 Data Center Solutions (DCS) Awards. This is the eighth consecutive year that a Corning product has been awarded.
As technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Machine to Machine (M2M) communications and artificial intelligence become increasingly integral to businesses, maintaining uptime of critical infrastructure is becoming more important than ever.
Corning’s EDGE/EDGE8 TAP modules enable passive optical tapping of the network while reducing downtime and link loss, and increasing rack space utilization and density compared to other optical monitoring options, as they can be integrated fully into the structured cabling. The solutions offer a host of benefits including identifying performance issues and bottlenecks, viewing network usage, and troubleshooting systems.
“Our continued success at the DCS Awards is a testament to the hard work of our teams and the strength of our portfolio which now boasts multiple award-winning products” said Cindy Ryborz, EMEA data center marketing manager, Corning Optical Communications. “Internet outages can have a devastating impact on business performance and reputation and we’re proud of the role our tapping solutions are playing in helping our customers address this threat.”
“The DCS Awards are designed to recognize the very best innovators and products in the data center industry. Our congratulations to Corning for their continued success” said Phil Alsop, editor at Digitalisation World.
Entries in the “Data Center Physical Connectivity Innovation of the Year” category included a range of leading data center technologies. Products were evaluated on their innovation, unique features and benefits to customers.
